John Pickett, Assistant Coach

15 Black

John moved to Kansas City after graduation from Kansas State as a Mechanical Engineer in 1992. After his wife, Chris, graduated from Kansas State and joined him in Kansas City, they soon found and became active in the local volleyball scene. Shortly after, he joined the local Heart of American region and played USVBA and USAV volleyball competitively for 15 years. John was parent assistant for the Dynasty 12-2 team during the 2009-2010 season, helping with practices and keeping stats during tournaments. John was the assistant coach for the Dynasty 13-Black team during the 2010-2011 season that took 23rd place at Nationals in Atlanta. He sees that volleyball is such a team dynamic sport that must blend individual skills and team chemistry to be consistently successful. John wants to continue building on Dynasty’s vision of continuous, steady improvement of players to not only develop their individual volleyball skills but also enrich their love for the sport in an environment of teamwork and encouragement. He is very excited and looking forward to the 2011-2012 season as an assistant coach for the Dynasty 14-Black team.

He has been married to Chris for 19 years and has lived in Kansas City for those 19 years. John’s love of volleyball started in watching Chris play and just warming up, peppering together before her matches. John and Chris are the proud parents of their daughter Alicia, age 13, son Joshua, age 11 and son Noah, age 7. John is a Program Manager for Emerson Process Management. Chris is a Veterinarian and full time mom keeping up with their three active children.
