Bryon Larson

Club Director

Coach Larson is the club director of the Dynasty Volleyball Club in Kansas City. The club started in the fall of 2009 with the original goal of feeding Coach Larson’s high school program by training incoming athletes. In just six short years, Dynasty and has grown into one of the most elite volleyball clubs in the Nation.

Bryon Larson was named as the head volleyball coach at Olathe Northwest in February of 2003. Coach Larson came to Olathe Northwest from Santa Fe Trail Junior High in Olathe where he coached for four seasons. Coach Larson´s teams posted a combined 55 - 7 record at SFT. His teams placed first in six of the eight tournaments they entered, including Olathe City Championships in 2001 and 2002.

Prior to coaching at Santa Fe Trail, Coach Larson served as a head varsity tennis coach for three years in Houston, Texas. Coach Larson completed the Profession Fitness Instructor Training Program at the Baylor School of Sports Medicine and has worked as a personal trainer and nutritional consultant for six years.

During nine seasons under Coach Larson’s leadership, the Olathe Northwest volleyball program grew into one of the state’s elite programs. In 2003, as a new school, Olathe Northwest finished its’ first season with a record of 10 – 26. The Ravens went 18 – 16 in 2004. In just the third season, the 2005 Ravens went 30 – 13. The 2005 group earned a sub-state championship and finished fifth at the state tournament. In the following six seasons, Coach Larson led the Ravens to four additional 30 + win seasons, 6 Top three Sunflower League finishes with league and sub-state championships in 2005 & 2010. Coach Larson’s Ravens were a mainstay in the KVA 6-A top 5 rankings.

Coach Larson ran the highly successful Raven Volleyball Summer Camps and Raven Volleyball Academy. He has worked on camp staff at the University of Kansas and Wichita State University and coached for the MAVS kids club, and served as a coaching adviser to the Mizuno Blazers Volleyball Club. Coach Larson served as chairperson of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 All-State selection committee.

Bryon Larson came to Olathe Northwest with a reputation as a communicator, team-builder, and instructional leader. Coach Larson has a Master´s Degree in Education from Baker University. He currently teaches 9th grade World History and Sociology at Olathe Northwest High School. Coach Larson spent seven years teaching the District Leadership Academy summer school class as well as the 7 Habits of Effective Teens.

Coach Larson and his family make their home in the Olathe Northwest attendance area. Bryon´s wife Lori is a kindergarten teacher in Olathe, and they are the proud parents of Brady (15) and Kaylee (13).
